What we keep, and how to take it back.
The short version
No ads, no tracking cookies, no selling anything. If you vote, we count it without knowing who you are. If you sign in, we keep your email address and your answers, so your record follows you, and we email you when a new episode is out. You can download or delete it all from your record, in one click.
If you just watch, read or listen
Nothing about you is kept. Our host, Cloudflare, sees the ordinary technical details any website sees (such as your IP address) to deliver the pages and keep the site safe, and doesn't keep them for us.
We count visits with Metricool, which uses no cookies and stores nothing on your device: it sees which page was visited and where the visit came from (a link on TikTok, say), and gives us totals.
If you vote
When you pick a side or say where you stand, your browser makes a random code for itself and keeps your answers on your device, so you can see your record. The same code and your answers are sent to us and counted with everyone else's. The code isn't linked to your name, email or anything else about you. A quick, invisible check from Cloudflare (called Turnstile) makes sure the votes come from people, not bots.
If you sign in
Signing in needs just your email address: we email you a link, and there's no password. It's for people aged 16 and over. We keep:
- your email address, and when you signed up;
- that you told us you're 16 or over, and that you asked for episode emails;
- your answers, linked to your account, so they follow you across devices;
- a cookie that keeps you signed in (it's needed for signing in to work, and does nothing else).
We use this to show you your record and to send you one email when a new episode lands. Every email has a way to stop them. We never share or sell your email.
Who helps us
- Cloudflare hosts the site and keeps the votes and accounts, in a database in Western Europe, and runs the bot check.
- Resend sends our emails, from its European region.
- Metricool counts visits, without cookies.
- YouTube plays an episode's video when you press play on it (from youtube-nocookie.com), and YouTube's own privacy policy applies then. Nothing loads from YouTube until you press play.
Both handle your data only to provide these services to us.
How long we keep it
Sign-in links work for 30 minutes and are deleted within a day. Your account stays until you delete it. When you do, your email address goes, and your answers remain only as part of the anonymous totals.
Your rights
You can see and download everything we keep about you, correct it, or delete it, from your record, or by emailing hello@tussle.tv. If you're unhappy with how we've handled your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk).
